HOMEMADE SCROLL SAW
The scroll saw is also my required item. This machine is not so expensive for amateur use. I bought one, and soon regretted as violent and terrible vibration, thus I could not cut as wanted. First my poor skill cannot cover this problem, so I trained again and again. Result is complete disappointment.
I disassembled that machine to take motor and some components, rest are now in the junk box. A few years ago, I found some movies on the net showing how to build own scroll saw. Of course I at once started building.
As you would know, small scroll saw is spring lord type, i.e. a strong coil spring keep tension of the blade, and motor pulls and releases the blade resulting heavy vibration, unstable cutting. My previous "out of question" machine was just this type.
On the other hand, many web sites introduce "parallel arm" system which looks better. I made 2 machines as the first unit was also vibrating machine even much more quiet than previous one. The second was much better than the first, but still I could not be satisfied.
Third unit employed quite new mechanism. Upper part and lower part which fix the blade synchronize without stretching nor releasing, thus vibration is minimized. I was much satisfied except one phenomena. Blade itself cuts so often. I am checking and studying to find solution. It would take for a while.
However this machine cuts very well as blade stroke is very big, and I could run the machine at very low speed. This is quite a big advantage, but frequent blade cutting is disgusting.
