This homepage is mainly about woodworking, but I like to make any kind of staff since I was a boy. In my boyhood I made the various articles from paper, tin can, scrap wood etc. Now since I could buy the material and tools I made more articles. I have not counted how many but maybe more than 1000 items. As I used to work in the electric field, I made electric or electronic items such as the motors, bells, tube amps, radios or transistor IC amps, receivers, PCs etc. Also I tried to make again the model electric motors of tin can which I could not complete when I was a boy. I found some photos in PC one day, therefore I wished to show them on this site. Speaker system. Speaker housing is made of some paper pipe, and homemade IC amp is also contained in paper pipe case. Dumbbells. Once I thought I have to improve my physical condition, therefore I made them. I filled the tin cans with cement and made the handles of wood. Each weight is just 1Kg. They are very easy to use, but I was satisfied when completed them resulting that I don't use them. Model electric motor made of tin can. I tried to make this one when I was a child but could not succeed. I tried again later and succeeded. Clock of CD. Movement is 100yen shop item. Letters are made of SUS, but I made mistake to stick 9 upside down. I used as it is for more than 5 years till it stopped. I made such 100yen It is too dirty! But useful in my shop when it is too hot. I made this of janks. Even in Hokkaido, it becomes very hot in the summer. 25is enough hot here as it is cold usually. 4 pcs. of the industrial cooling fans, 2x4, 100yen shop grid are combined to this article. It Homebuilt desktop PC. I made a case at that time. The mother board, power supply and other components are contained. I use another PC now, but I have 4 spare PCs. They will be rotten before I use. It is less expensive now to buy new one than self building recently. I made this for my sister. She wished this one for the Tanka (Japanese traditional short poem) magazines. She likes it so far. I don't know why, but once I concentrated on making the desk lights. This is one of them. I, probably, wished to use the LED lump. I also used as usual 100yen shop SUS bowls . Now it is Pot stand. I like this simple style and use every day. No need to explain, they are the speaker boxes. Finish is terrible but I usually put in the cabinet therefore I need not see them always. They are Ashida Box, Japanese speaker maker, product which I like very much. I have used their 16Cm small speakers for long time. Unfortunately this product is not available now. I listened their sound connecting to homemade tube amp, now homemade IC amp. Pencil holder. I turned some beautiful wood material. I made several. I also fountain pen type, but not good to use I feel. They are now in the desk drawer. Compas Smaller one is Jhon Heizs design. They are useful Electric bell I made again since I made in my boyhood. Bell is plastic bawl, but sound is too bad, the tin can makes better sound. I keep it as interior item Simple tin can motor. I once make this one when I was a child. Only tried to make with no purpose. Another is the switch. I only wanted to make them. This is also tin can motor, but made using the lathe, drill press and some other tools. Therefore I could succeed to complete. Only purpose is that I build it. Power transformer. Core is steel strap coiled to form to build the toroidal type. Case was made recently. However this transformer is not used now as there is more sophisticated power pack is in my shop. Single tube radio. Used tube is 12AU7, dual triode. Coil frame is made of CD. Here in Hokkaido, this radio can not receive enough radio wave, so only interior item. Katsuobusi (dried bonito, Japanese traditional soup material) When I was a child, everydays soup need this katsuobushi to shave. This shaving katsuobushi was my job every morning. Now the packed katsuobusi shave is common. I wished to use self shaving one, therefore I made this katsuobushi shaver. But I have no chance to use this as it takes too much time to prepare. My grandmother bought before she married. After she passed away, my sister used it. but it got too dirty and broken. I tried to fix it up. I tried to remain original taste. I hope I succeeded. Sharpening machine. I found a gear motor, therefore built this one. Turn table is glass disk on which the fine water polishing paper is sticked. It takes too much time to prepare and cleanup all. And I am very poor at sharpening the knives and blades, so this sharpening machine is no help. smallstaff I made various small staff when I wish to make. I such case, I use scrap maerial with spending long time. The items shown in the photo are such small staff. This is an exterior HDD bay put on the wall. I use 3-5 HDDs to secure the back up. Therefore I have used the built-in type HDD with SATA-USB converting cables. However it makes the mess om my desk. The ready made external HDD is much expensive than built-in type. Therefore I made wall mounting HDD bay where 3 HDD are secured. I like this good looking bay. Wall mounted container. Small items such as crips, push pins, etc. are difficult to keep in order. Therefore, I have used small glass bottles to contain them. As shown in the photo, I made wall mounting bottle rack. 10 bottles are set under the 2 racks neatly. I like these racks as it look nice. This is a step which is adjusted to put on the stairway so that I can work there easily. Of cause it can be used as a step, and for exercise, i.e step up and down repeatedly/ It has as small container. Yes, this is a sling shot. I only wanted to make this though I never take it out. First I found a good Y shaped twig when working. I remembered that I made many sling shot when I was a child and much scolded when I shot by mistake some guy. Anyway, first I peeled of and shaved to make a sling shot/ However it was far from perfect as the Y shape is not symmetry. Therefore I cut out Y shape from 24mm thickness plywood, and shaved to make this sling shot. I tried this in the wood where there is no other watcher. It works well! But I have no will to usea gain. I found a peeler of above photo at the 100yen shop, then I got nice inspiration. I made a small sling shot This one fits my hand quite well. I regret my inspiration does not work to make me rich. printer stand I have 2 printers, i.e. color and w/b laser printers. I put them on a dirty box beside the desk, but I hate them as they are too shabby, therefore I decided to build the printer stand. I am now satisfied as it is nice looking. At the small points such as corners, jointed parts, painting etc. are far from perfect, but it looks much better than before. I built it so that I can put ceiling light There are many ceiling lights in my house. Almost are FL lights with plastic shade. Recently these shades has become dirty and look shabby even after cleaning. Therefore I was thinking to make these shades by myself. I made some of them in Japanese taste. This is the ceiling light of the loving room with Japanese taste shade which I made. This light is Recently I found the LED 60w at the \100 shop. Price is \400! US$3+ something. It is surprisingly cheep as usual price is 3 or 4 times more. It says the life is 40000 hours, but I don't complain if it is 10000 hours. This product is made in china, but I don't care as long as it works. I bought 10 LED lamps. Total price is \4320 including tax, and much less than Amazon. Amazon sells this at around the double price, of cause, china made. This is home made bracket. Base is 1x4, reflectors are SUS bawls found in the \100 shop. I painted white. If I feel necessary I will make the Japan taste shade. 1 line has 5 lights, and 2 lines are prepared. I can switch full and a half lighting. The lower photo This is the ceiling light made newly in the bedroom. Before that the old, dirty, shabby light was there. This new Japan taste shade matches to the shoji screen of the window. This shoji screen is made by myself too. They are the replaced lights of 2nd floor hole, stairs, and the end of stairs. I will reform these areas when it becomes warm, and these shades are the beginning of the reform work. I made a small container set for powder coffee, powder cream and suger using disposable cups of Sake. Material is scrap 2x4 and 1x4 biside cups. It looks nice, moreover it is more handy. |
